Dr. Josh Spitalnick
Josh S. Spitalnick, Ph.D., ABPP, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Board Certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology, and Owner of Spitalnick & Associates, an outpatient clinic in Dunwoody, GA. In his clinical practice, Dr. Spitalnick specializes in the delivery of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat OCD, anxiety and mood disorders, stress and trauma, medical and health issues, and difficulties in relationship functioning. He is a Board Member for OCD Georgia and holds an appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Emory University’s School of Medicine where he trains physicians and other health care providers in the delivery of CBT.
Dr. Spitalnick is a specialist who offers Exposure Therapy for various anxiety disorders, having received training from some of the leading certified organizations (International OCD Foundation, BTTI, and USUHS). He remains active in the scientific community with regards to exposure-based research treatment studies, trains and supervises other healthcare providers in these techniques, serves in a consulting capacity to various anxiety specialty clinics, and presents on advances in exposure therapy at various professional conferences.
In addition to his role as a clinician, Dr. Spitalnick is active as a research scientist specializing in healthcare-related technologies. Dr. Spitalnick has been PI and co-PI for numerous National Institute of Health grants to evaluate a myriad of topics, including childhood and adolescent anxiety, social phobia, risk prevention, and chronic disease management and behavioral medicine (e.g., obesity, allergies, sleep, and HIV risk). He has been a featured expert on ABC News (Atlanta Affiliate), Fox 5 News (Atlanta Affiliate), NBC News (Atlanta Affiliate), London Times, American Medical News, The Times-Georgian, The Discovery Channel’s Brink Series, NPR: The Kojo Nnamdi Show, Emory Magazine, American Psychological Association’s Webcast Portal, 11alive.com, myfoxatlanta.com, CNN.com, ScienceDaily.com, PsychCentral.com, Orlando Sentinel, Central Florida Future, and a variety of other local, regional, and national print, television, and online media outlets.
Dr. Spitalnick is the recipient of numerous clinical, research, and technology awards and is an invited presenter on various clinical, health, and technology-related topics. He is an Atlanta native for almost 40 years and resides in Dunwoody with his wife and two children. He is passionate about Atlanta sports (sadly) and in his free time, he might be heard jamming away on his drum set, african drums, or any available noisemaker.
